Investments in green energy

Green Economy 2China is the world’s leading investor in renewable energy, spending $49 billion on it in 2010, and overall the country is committed to spending $468 billion during the next five years on key industries including renewable energy, clean technologies and waste management. If you exclude the emerging economies of Brazil, China and India, countries in Africa have posted the highest percentage increase of all developing regions in renewable energy investments. In Kenya, for example, investment climbed from virtually zero in 2009 to $1.3 billion in 2010 across wind, geothermal, small-scale hydro and biofuel technologies.
