“Have faith in the future. Don’t give in to the pessimism of the old. In recent decades humans have been on a binge, having the mother of all parties. The planet is a wreck. My generation did this. I’m sorry. The good news is we can clean up. It’s not too late to plant those trees and switch to low-carbon fuels and the other things we know we must do. There is, as Gandhi once said, enough for everyone’s need, but not for everyone’s greed. The bad news is it’s you guys who have got to do most of the work. Good luck.”
